Our Team

What really makes our nursery so special are the people who work for us.  Here is an introduction to those in charge of ensuring our nursery continues to thrive.

Nursery Manager

open1For as long as I can remember I’ve been caring for children - there’s nothing else I wanted to do from the age of 14. Having previously enjoyed a career as a Nanny, Nursery Nurse and in Management at Norland, I came to Jubilee Day Nursery in 2002.  I gained an NNEB when I first qualified and have since been awarded many childcare and management qualifications, including the Early Years Foundation Degree. I have always believed that the outdoors is the best environment for children to play, learn and explore. At Jubilee over the years I have been able to develop this passion usinig our farm, woodlands, ‘Forest School learning’ and now our very own mud kitchen. close1

Deputy Manager & Forest School Learning Leader

open1I absolutely adore the outdoors and the opportunities it provides. I chose to train as a Forest School Learning leader so that I could share my passion with the children in my care. Having access to the woods at Jubilee is brilliant; together we collect fire wood, learn to build dens, go bug hunting - it’s very rewarding being able to teach children to use the outdoors as a learning resource. I hold an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in childcare, Level 3 in Outdoor Learning and Level 2 in Team Leading. I also enjoy spending time on the water and hold a Level 2 qualification in sailing and windsurfing. My time at Jubilee is flying by... 2013 will be my 7th year here.close1

Gems Manager

open1I began my Jubilee journey in 2003 as a Nursery Nurse and having gained a bundle of experience working in all areas of the nursery, I was promoted through the ranks to the post I hold today. As well as having an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Early Years Care and Education, I hold and NVQ Level 3 in Playwork and the Early Years Foundation Degree in Care and Education. I’m also a qualified trampoline coach! My 3 year old daughter attends Jubilee and loves it. Being a Manager here fulfils me in many ways - I get to work with a great team and help them to develop their careers, I love that no two days are the same. Children are so natural and impulsive that numerous times a day they make me smile and laugh and seeing them develop to achieve new things daily is very rewarding.close1

Deputy Manager

open1After a stint of work experience at a family centre and local pre-school, I decided that a career in childcare was definitely for me. I now proudly wear the crown for the longest serving member of staff having joined Jubilee in 1995 as an Apprentice. A shy, young Apprentice I am no more! My training and experience at the nursery has given me a Level 3 in Childcare, Level 3 in Management and a certificate in Health and Safety at Work. I’m honoured that parents give us the opportunity to care for their children, after so much interaction they become part of the Jubilee family and I really miss them when it’s time for them to move on. I call it ‘work’ here but in reality there is no other place I would like to spend my career. I’m always on the go, so when I get home I try to relax with a crime thriller or an American TV show. That’s if I’m not abseiling down the 3M building for Charity!close1

Nursery Cook

open1Providing breakfast, snack, a 2-course lunch and a tea for over 160 children on a daily basis is a constant challenge but I absolutely love it. It’s a far cry from the job in Accounts that I once had, it’s far more exciting and putting the menus together allows my creative side to spring into action. Time seems to have flown by, I’ve been at Jubilee since 2001 and my two children are now in their teens! The best decision I made was to change my career - I love my job and have never looked back.close1

Creative Play

Nothing reinforces the creative spirit and nourishes a child's soul more than providing time to engage in spontaneous, self-directed play. Play is the serious business of young children and to do so freely is vital to healthy development.
